The Wandering Hinjew is a memoir in which I take my readers around the world with my images and stories of far flung places in order to uncover some truths about my existence and perhaps theirs. I explore the role that shame plays in our lives and relationships. I also share my personal journey to overcome my own shame and my goal of living my life in harmony with my emerging awareness of my own authentic self. The book delves into the damaging effects of childhood sexual abuse, the complexities of navigating a marriage and raising children, and the search for one’s creative and spiritual self.
In addition to being a photographer I have also been a clinical psychologist since 1977. I am currently in practice in Brentwood, Tennessee. As this book unfolds it becomes a synthesis of my pursuits in photography and therapy.
